THAT
KITTY CAT
By Leandri van der Merwe
Oh were oh were is that kitty cat
Oh there she is a sleep on the mat
The winds is blowing
and the kitty is purring
So cute and sweet
maybe i should give her a treat
Oh look how she like's each bite she take's
i'll keep her no matter what .

What traffic is between us when my gaze
Is drowned in the blue fathoms of your eyes?
By what inscutable and orient ways
Do you make judgement where your true love lies?
You walk with silent ballerina tread,
Making your stately progress to my hand,
And with such condecention bow your head,
A beautious exile from a foreign land.
Then I recall your dateless pedigree
And marvel that time's labyrinthine maze,
So happily should bring you here to me,
To be the wanton mistress of my days,
But, when within my ear your soft purrs swell,
This brings more joy than all my verse can tell.

You declare
determined stamp
on my heart and I bow
at your well-wrought litany
of adverbs and acronyms
bubbles and gurgles
your morning song
of complete love
you well done
an entire map
carefully marked out
in swirls and trickles
centre of everything
my evolution
depends on you
crumpled ginger gem
you inside out
twist and turn
beneath a sea
of bed covers
become a sheik now
a mountain in this
your secret hide away
you pull me in
close my eyes
take flight with ease
meet you again beneath
a sun-kissed glow
a slipping of senses
words not needed
stumble and melt
to a hush
|
you slip
into a new expedition
utopia within easy reach
of my front garden
wide-eyed you lap it up
ardent conqueror
with your own
face on
you return
a shadow stuck
in the doorway
slight hesitation
negotiation of the senses
I call and this is your cue
a leap of faith and you
are home again
you
the light
fixed in its turning
in its becoming
always
a gallant heart
that demands nothing
of me.
