I have been blessed with having a Siberian in
my home since May of 2003 and I love them
more and more as time passes. Their gentle
nature makes them a pleasure to have around.
Each one with their own individual
personality yet each having the traditional
Siberian traits.
The breed is extremely slow to mature taking
as long as 5 years. Females are smaller than
males, so if you are looking for a larger cat
with surprising heft for its size you may
prefer a male. Males generally range from 12
to 18 pounds and females from 8 to 11 pounds.
At maturity, these cats are powerfully built
with an overall appearance of strength and
power, with excellent physical condition and
alertness. They are extremely agile and great
leapers.

As befits a cat that developed in a cold
climate, the Siberian possesses a thick,
medium to long coat with a full ruff and a
tight undercoat that becomes thicker in cold
weather.
Siberians have big hearts to match their
size. They are devoted, smart, loving cats
with a generous dose of curiosity and
playfulness. Siberians are very intelligent,
and some say they problem-solve to get what
they want. They come when called – when it
suits them – and enjoy fetch and other games
in which their humans take an active role.
They are generally sweet, and devoted but
their temperament depends upon early
socialization. Siberians have a fascination
with water, often dropping toys into their
water dishes or investigating bathtubs before
they’re dry. You may insist on keeping the
toilet seat down…..
A testimonial I’d like to share with you from
a Siberian owner that may help you understand
just how wonderful they are:
I have had cats since I was 15. The majority
of my feline friends have been a domestic
short-hair variety. Nikolai is my first
purebred cat and I am so glad that I decided
to do some more research before deciding on
this breed. If I had not, I would have been
missing out on all the fun!
Hmm, what would be the best way to describe
Siberian breed? I think it would be fair to
make a comparison to a big fuzzy teddy bear.
I truly feel blessed to have such a wonderful
companion in my life. Niki loves to snuggle
with me and he likes to rest his head on my
arm when we sleep. He is one of the quietest
cats I have ever met. His biggest asset is
the killer fur. It's just so soft and
feathery!
Some of my friends who were adamantly against
cats in the past attest that they fell in
love with Niki the moment he came to cuddle
with them! My boyfriend just adores him and
we always have an affection contest to see
whom Niki loves the most! Sincerely, Rossa B.

Siberians are rare and kittens are in high
demand so you may have to expect a wait.
If you’d like to get more information on this
breed, we’d love to hear from you.
Hypo-allergenic Qualities
It was discovered by accident that the
Siberian Cat does not effect some allergy
suffers as much or in some cases not at all.
At this point in time NO OFFICIAL STUDY has
been done; but many allergy suffers have had
the joy of having a Siberian join their
household. In some cases more than one.
Why does the Siberian have the benefit of not
causing allergic reactions or lower reactions
in so many people? We believe that the dander
they produce is different or does not contain
a protein that is being called Fel-D1 that
the dander of other cats does contain. The
Fel-D1 protein is what many people with
allergies are allergic to; thus the Siberian
dander may not cause the allergic reaction
that those with allergies may experience with
other cats.
