  • Unforeseen Illness

  • Accidental injury

  • Emergency Kenneling

  • Routine Care

Once your vet has treated your pet, simply send in a PetSure claim form (your vet will help you fill it out) along with your vet’s detailed account. PetSure then adds up the benefit value and sends payment directly to you. It is as simple as that. Claims are easy to make and are quickly and efficiently settled. PetSure enables you to utilise any veterinarian of your choice and even provides cover for referrals. Microchips are available from your local vet or SPCA.

“The South African Veterinary Association recommends the principle of independent pet health insurance.”

  • Accidents and serious illness can strike your pet at any time.

  • 2 out of 3 pets need veterinary attention each year.

  • 66% of all veterinary visits each year are listed as sudden illness.

  • There are in excess of 6400 medical diseases and problems that can happen to pets.

  • Veterinary care can be expensive – that is why you need PetSure

Q: Are there any age limits for the insurance?
A: Your pets must be between 8 weeks and 8 years of age to qualify – membership is kept up for life.

Q: How soon after I join can a claim be made?
Cover starts one month after date of enrolment.

Q: What is not covered?
Cover cannot be provided for preventative treatment or vaccinations (unless the routine care cover option is selected), desexing, pregnancy and congenital or hereditary defects or for conditions showing clinical signs before taking out the insurance.

Q: Will PetSure cover Routine Procedures?
A: Yes. But only if the routine cover is selected. Check ups and elective surgery are not covered. Dental scaling is also not covered (unless the routine care option is selected). (In the same way that maintenance on a motor vehicle is not covered on a motor policy)

Q: What is Accidental Injury?
A: A physical or bodily injury which happens accidentally to your pet as a result of external, violent and visible means.

Q: Does my pet have to have a microchip or tattoo to claim?
Yes. This provides permanent identification and acts as your pet’s medical aid card, allowing you to utilise any veterinarian countrywide.

Q: Where do I get a microchip?
A: Microchips are available from PetSure, your local veterinarian or SPCA. Your vet will inject the microchip painlessly under the loose skin of your pet. Note – no claims will be paid unless PetSure has proof of this microchip insertion.
