Dear kitty cat lovers,

My name is Sandra, I am looking for a Devon rex breeder in Cape town. I rescued a Devon rex 2 years ago from a lady in Krugers dorp. The lady mentioned to me that the cat came from Cape Town. I would really like to find out his date of birth.

He is black and he is 5 years old now. If any breeder in Cape town remembers a Devon been adopted Johannesburg Krugersdorp, please can you contact me. I really want to know more about this special fellow.

I most upset. Was at the Randburg Council and they dished out kittens (no more than 1 week old) like candy. Asked what it was all about? They told me the cats keep on breading in the roof and then the babies fall out onto their office desks. They told me that some of the people often just kill them "as if they are rats" - direct quote. She laughed and admitted she is not a catlover and just want to get rid of them. Someone needs to do something about this.

Hi,

Thank you for your newsletter, but I must tell you I don't enjoy getting it, it makes my heart so sore to see so many cats and kittens without homes, I have three darlings of my own, and know what really special animals they are. I recently lost my brother and as cats are, they felt my sadness and have spent the last two weeks being extra attentive to me and my husband.

I wish I had a really big place to give all these kitties a loving home. Please think about adopting one of these special animals, having them share your life is really special.

Regards
Grace

Family pet, paralysed, left for dead, after an airgun shot - PORT ELIZABETH

Holly was a cat.

The property where he lived borders the valley, and what a fun place to play for a boisterous, yet gentle, young cat.

He was last seen at home in Bendor Drive, Beverley Grove, on Friday, 2nd April 2010, and always came home for supper.

He was found alive by a neighbour outside the neighbour's own valley boundery wall on Tuesday, 6th April 2010, and was taken to the vet.

After x-rays it was discovered that a lead pellet was lodged in his spine, paralysing the lower half of his body.

Due to the placement of the pellet in the spinal cord, no surgery would help him. We had to put him to sleep.

WARNING!

Hi everyone

I just want to warn everyone about a syndicate in Cameroon (Africa) that gives away kittens or any other pets, according to them all you have to do is pay the travelling costs. But once you've paid that they tell you unfortunately there is insurance costs also involved. They are either a so called pastor or a doctor and they must give the animals away for some other sad reason. They will even phone you and tell you about the kittens and e mail you photos!

PLEASE do not send any money to anyone from Cameroon or Nigeria! IT IS A SCAM!
I replied to the ad on the internet that wanted to give away 2 Bengal kittens, send the money for the travelling costs over through Money gram (R1600.00) and the following day they emailed me from the airport (?!) to say there is this insurance now also can I just please pay another 500$. That"s when I started getting very worried. I phoned my vet and he gave me the number of Pet Wings. They told me they have had hundreds of complaints these past months about the same thing and apparently it is a scam operating from these two countries. Of course the pets are non existent and you never get your money back again.

PLEASE WATCH OUT

Dear Kittycat,

How I wish all the cat lovers out there would take care of their beloved babies. I have just had the most horrible experience on my way to work this morning of having to move a beautiful cat's body off the road. Being the owner of many of these wonderful pets I find this really depressing.

I so wish people would keep their cats in at night as this is when they are so at risk. Before I even moved into my home I installed a pet electric fence and I must say, despite some doubt about its effectiveness, it has worked like a charm and I can sleep easy knowing that my babies are safe and sound. Without this I would definitely not let them out at night, with it they are able to go in and out freely. Quite an expensive thing but worth every cent of the heartache that it has saved.

Please all, look after them, they are so precious.

Regards
June
