Mischief

My Mischief has just about used most of his nine lives.

I witnessed the birth of Mischief 4 years ago, he was the only one I didn’t want to give away. About 3 years ago, someone probably kicked him and hit him that his back leg broke. I was in Jhb at the time on holiday and rushed back sooner so that I could see him. he was at the SPCA at the time I came back and learnt that had not attended to him for about a week, this meant that he was sitting and suffering from a broken leg for 7 days.

I immediately removed him from the SPCA’s care and took him to the PDSA in Cape Town. The bones grew apart and the pins did not help as he was so active, the pins came out the time. After a few weeks of re-pinning, the leg started to turn septic, and we eventually had to amputate it. I was devastated, but rather a 3 legged cat than a dead one!… about a year later, some kid kicked him in the mouth and broke his jaw… needless to say, I took him back to PDSA where more pins was put in him to keep his jaw together.

That is two lives gone already… the last straw was 3 months ago… my cats usually sit in front of the door at night, one Friday night, I heard a shuffle outside and opened the door to see what or who it was… there was Mischief sitting, quiet as a mouse, with a Staffy looking straight at him. The Staffy got hold of him so quickly and dragged him into the alley. I didn’t know what to do, at the time I didn’t know it was a Staffy, so I ran after them and hit this dog until she let go of my baby. I tried and tried and nothing came out of her mouth.. Mischief couldn’t even shout! eventually after about 10 wacks to the dog, Mischief finally came loose, I rushed him to the vet in Rondebosch where they cleaned the wounds. There as blood everywhere, there were holes everywhere, I thought I was going to lose him for good this time, but back to the PDSA where he was taken in and taken care of yet again, I think they have a kennel with his name on it already.

He is back at home now, looking like his old self again, playing with his mom and the new edition to the family.
