What is Manage Mites Shampoo?

A parasite is an organism that gets its nourishment by feeding either on or within another animal and it is fairly common for our pets to become the unhappy hosts to a number of unwanted organisms. Skin parasites are the external parasites such as ticks, fleas and mites. Fleas are especially worrisome for pet owners and their pets alike. Getting rid of fleas is no easy task, and sensitive pets may even develop an allergy to flea bites resulting in a condition called flea-bite dermatitis. Other parasites such as sarcoptic mange mites and ticks can be incredibly harmful to our beloved pets, but the good news is that most external parasites can be avoided to a certain extent with preventative treatments and thorough grooming. Skin parasites like fur mites, ear mites, fleas and other tiny organisms are a common source of skin problems in dogs, such as dry, flaky skin and itching. Skin parasites can also lead to chronic skin infections, canine skin sores and patches of fur loss in dogs and other pets. Mange is a particularly unsightly and uncomfortable skin condition that is caused by a variety of mange mites. These little eight-legged parasites can become a serious problem for pets as they live on and sometimes burrow into the skin causing a number of skin problems. Different types of mange cause different symptoms, however, the condition is often characterized by hair-loss, skin irritation, inflammation and itchiness. In some cases the skin can become crusty and scabbed and may even ooze and crack. Symptoms of skin parasites in both cats and dogs include:

* Itchy skin

* Frequent scratching and licking

* Skin sores and scabs (or open bleeding patches)

* Skin scaling

* Dandruff, White Flakes

* Black dirt-like dots on the skin

* Skin redness

* Skin inflammation

* Hair loss

* Thin fur

* Dull fur

* Coarse fur

It doesn’t take a lot for a dog to get dirty, that’s for sure! In fact, dogs are perfectly happy when their skin and fur are well coated with their natural scents and oils. Excess dirt though, can be uncomfortable for your dog (and attract unwanted pests) and so bathing is best. Be careful not to over wash, as this will strip the coat of natural oils. Most dogs should be bathed once every two months. Speak to your vet about the best bathing schedule, some breeds may have sensitive skin and require less bathing. There is a lot that can be done naturally to help keep your pet’s hair and skin clear. It is always a good idea to brush your pet thoroughly every day as this will help remove dirt and help spread natural oils throughout the coat (it also prevents nasty tangles from forming). An easy way to keep dogs clean is to dust their coats with a mixture of cornstarch and baby powder, and brush it through. It may sound odd, but the powder readily ‘soaks up’ skin oils and helps eliminate the usual “doggy” smell. For longer lasting fresh smelling coats, a natural shampoo or spray can be used. PetAlive Manage Mites Shampoo is a natural cleansing herbal shampoo for dogs (For cats visit our PetAlive Clean Cat Shampoo) using only tested, natural ingredients. PetAlive Manage Mites Shampoo may be used as needed to help rid the coat of excess dirt and grime, while still supporting healthy skin.
