PLEASE NETWORK SO WE CAN FIND THEM A LOVING FOREVER HOME – THANK YOU
Smile

Shiver & Regal need to find a new home together. Please see below description
of these two by their human mom:

I have had Shiver my brown standard male Dachshund since March 2005 and his is
now 7 years old. Shiver has always been an independent little soul and loves
being in the house but also loves to sit in the garden and watch what goes on
in the neighborhood. He has a lovely friendly nature and as he has gotten
older he has mellowed and likes to cuddle especially on cold winter days. He
is an absolute pleasure to take for walks and responds to his name being
called and the sit command. He understands the word no and picks up on your
mood and is especially gentle when he thinks you are sad. One of his favorite
pastimes with me is to wrestle with my slippers when I’m walking around in the
garden and holding on until I tell him enough. Shiver is used to sleeping in
the house at night and his ritual is to be tucked up in his duvet and that’s
him for the night. Shiver has been neutered and his injections are up to date
but it might be a good idea to have a rabies vaccination again.

Regal my black miniature male Dachshund is six years old and I acquired him in
March 2006. Regal loves to cuddle and likes to be in the house with you and I
must admit any opportunity he can get to sleep in bed with you he will take it
otherwise he also likes to be wrapped in his duvet at night bearing in mind
though he might protest a bit if he wants to be in your bed but if you remain
firm he soon gives up his protest’s. He understands the sit command the word
no and his name being called. He is a little more energetic when it comes to
walking but not in the way that he takes you for a walk, he just needs to be
reminded now and again as to which side to walk. He also has a lovely friendly
nature. Regal has been neutered and his injections are up to date but it might
be a good idea to have a rabies vaccination again as with Shiver.

Shiver and Regal are very accepting of other dogs but Regal will bark at other
dogs behind gates while we are going for a walk. They are fairly indifferent
to cats but should one stray into the garden they would give chase. Both
Shiver and Regal are able to interact with babies, children and adults. They
are not afraid of storms or fireworks. Shiver and Regal will swim if you place
them in the swimming pool although Shiver will enjoy it more and both of them
of very well behaved when I bath them. During winter if there is a heater on
they will be sure to lie in front of it for warmth.

Shiver will growl a little if he is wrapped up in his duvet and sleeping and
you approach him suddenly.

I have always fed them Vets Choice with a small portion of rice and vegetables
in the evenings.

Let’s work our magic Smile

ABUSED AND NEGLECTED MALTESE BOY – JHB – ROODEPOORT
1 YEAR OLD MALTESE BOY – STERILISED AND INNOCULATED
STRICT PROPERTY CHECKS APPLY
BRIEF FROM FOSTER MOMS:
He needs – patience, another playmate that’s not intimidating and lots of
love. I would not hesitate to mention preferably no young kids – running,
noise, the chance of stepping on him – making him afraid and uneasy.
He is not a puppy anymore, a young adult- He could be a very good companion,
indeed, to someone looking for a dog that has gone through the puppy phase and
house training

with the same beautiful apricot colour and silky fur, also looking for homes.
If you would like to meet them or – better still – welcome them into your life

GIZMO – NEEDS A FOREVER LOVING HOME. RECOVERING AFTER BEING HIT AND DRAGGED
BY CAR, WESTERN CAPE
This is Gizmo. Gizmo is one of only 3 pets remaining in Blikkiesdorp when the
squatters in Ruyterwacht were forced to move there in December 2011.

A.R.T Animal Rescue Team has removed ,rehomed ,sterilised or otherwise
assisted all the other
animals there were.

Gizmo was hit by a car last Thursday evening about 17H30 and dragged some
distance. The people who are "taking care" of him ( he is now with the 3rd
hand me down owner as 2 of his previous families have since left Blikkiesdorp)
thankfully used the little air time they have to contact me and Jody (from
A.R.T) rushed to pick me up and to get poor Gizmo to a vet asap. Needless to
say the closest open vet was TAH and a deposit R1000.00 was needed as it was
after hours and a public holiday.

If Jody was not with me, Gizmo would have died for sure since I certainly do
not have that kind of money and I was too distraught to have tried to be
resourceful at that time.

Gizmo had followed his people across the busy road to a shebeen.

We found Gizmo in severe shock and his eye popped out from the impact ,unable
to stand ,his shoulder dislocated. We transferred him to Dr Le Roux at
Brackenfell Animal Clinic who kindly helps us at welfare rates the next
morning and his eye has subsequently been removed and his leg strapped to
his body. He will survive but there is no way he is going back to Blikkiesdorp.
He was released from hospital yesterday.

We are going to need a forever home for a one eyed scruffy (neutered by A.R.T
already) male Poodle X. We are probably going to take his Maltese friend also
a neutered male out too – his name is Skud-skud because he has a "tick"
probably from a puppy disease or previous injury. Jody was informed by an
employee of the Dept of Agriculture that an animal’s average life expectancy
in an informal settlement or squatter camp is 2.5 years… 2.5 years of hunger
,abuse, neglect ,disease and suffering of some sort or another….

If anyone can pay some money into A.R.T’s Vet account which stands at over
R2500.00 it will help them to continue to help needy animals like Gizmo.

Weetbix needs a foster or permanent home immediately.
As we are having to move, we don’t have anywhere to put her, she is causing
problems at our vet by chasing the cats. If anyone can take her in for a while
with no cats.
It would help us a lot. She is good with other dogs.
Please could you network for us and contact me if you can help.

Bulldog needs urgent LOVING home (PE)
The owner of this bulldog asked one of the vets in PE to put her 7 year old
female bulldog down. I was contacted to see if we can rehome her instead. The
owner doesn’t get on with the dog, it belonged to her husband who passed away
about 6 years ago. She is registered, she does not like children and has ear
problems but the owner did say she has not taken much care of the dog, she has
also been by herself not sure what she is like with other dogs.
She is spayed’ fully vaccinated and will go with 3 cushions and her kennel.
The owner wants the dog to be rehomed URGENTLY.
Please phone Elna Burger 083 445 7649.

THIS IS A SPECIAL AND VERY DEAR CASE THAT IS
EXTREMELY CLOSE TO MY HEART

A NEW HOME(S) NEEDED FOR BARBIE AND ALFIE.

This is such a sad case and I need to start looking for a lovely warm and
caring home for these two darling older dogs for the near future. They are
both rescue dogs that I personally homed to a very very special and dear lady
in my life. She is a 94 year old lady that has had Barbie for 8 years and
adopted Alfie 1 year ago. She absolutely adores dogs and has cared so
beautifully for them. I walk them myself once or twice a week and have had
such a close relationship with them over the passed years that it feels as if
they are my own dogs. So this is not only tearing my dear friend apart, but
also myself.

The old lady is starting to realize that she will need to go into a frail care
setup soon and doesn’t want to do this until her dogs have been homed into a
warm, caring and loving home.

These two are so special – Barbie (the black spaniel x female is about 10
years old) follows her person around and has been so devoted to the old lady.
When the old lady is having a bad day, Barbie sits at her feet and watches her
every move. Alfie (corgi x male – around 10 years aswell) will also never
leave her side. He is a little deaf and shows all his devotion to her by
licking her feet, sleeping right beside her until she gets out of bed and when
she is really down, he just doesn’t eat.
BOTH DOGS ARE STILL VERY HEALTHY AND LOVE GOING ON WALKS.

Besides being each other’s soulmates, they are HER soulmates and having to
rehome them once she moves into a centre is probably her biggest and most
feared thought.

But knowing how difficult it is to rehome and knowing that it takes time, I
need to start putting the word out. I believe that by the end of this year (if
not before), these two will need to find a new home.

If a wonderful home comes along now, it would be fantastic as then I can tell
her this and her heart can be at rest knowing that when she leaves, they will
go into a wonderful home.

PLEASE, I ASK EVERYONE ON THIS WONDERFUL NETWORK TO PLEASE PUT THE WORD OUT. I
MYSELF WILL BE DOING THE HOMECHECK (SO THE HOME(S) WILL NEED TO BE WESTERN
CAPE BASED) AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE THEM TO BE NEAR SO THAT I CAN GO AND VISIT
AND TAKE PHOTOS FOR HER TO KEEP NEXT TO HER BED.

YOU CAN IMAGINE THAT THIS HOME(S) WILL NEED TO BE SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL, SO
PLEASE IF YOU CAN OFFER THESE TWO ANGELS A NEW RETIREMENT HOME, PLEASE I WOULD
BE SO GRATEFUL.

THESE TWO ANGELS CAN BE REHOMED SEPERATELY

With thanks and appreciation

An Appeal of a different nature – Happy Yapper PIGS. – Happy Yappers
have lost their main financial supporter and can no longer feed their pigs. If
we cannot find homes for them to go to by the end of the month HY have no
choice but to have them shot. There are 17 pigs left of various ages and sexes
but all are BIG pigs so will need a plot or a farm to wander around in – they
are easy and cheap to keep, as long as there is adequate grazing and shelter
they just need a bowl of horse pellets a day and de-worming, hoof trimming
once every 6 months or so. I hope I can give you some idea of their different
personalities and the strong bonds they have amongst them selves in the photos
below and instil some love and compassion in you for these intelligent,
beautiful, mis-understood animals. They are very clean, sweet smelling souls
depending on the conditions they are kept in – here they live in dusty, muddy
pens and have no option but to look like this.

If you know of anyone, ANYONE, who could spare some space for two or three of
these doomed animals please, please contact myself, Leslie on 083 651 2082 or
Mel on 083 453 3888. If in Gauteng, transport can be arranged and neutering of
the males negotiated. NB these pigs are NOT for slaughter and strict home
checks and post home checks will be done to ensure this does not happen.

ANGELA – THE LITTLE SOWETO DOG. SHE has tried so long and so hard to
survive and belong – surely she has earned the safety of a home of her own?
PLEASE read her story and lets work our magic for this little dog ANGELA!! I’m
not sure how old Angela is. She came to the children’s centre in Soweto as a
stray with the remains of an orange bag tied tightly round her neck. She’d
managed to pull herself away from the rope that held her – for God only knows
how long. Terrified, she slunk into the bushes and lay there for days.
Eventually we coaxed her out with food and water and after a couple of weeks
she was able to approach us. Clearly her experience with people had made her
wary in the extreme. Once she realised she was safe and loved she burst into
exuberance and joy. She would still bark at strangers though and couldn’t
tolerate a real collar. One of our staff originally took Angela to her home
and cared for her. In 2011 that person left, deserting Angela. We have a
kennel for her now at the centre but it’s lonely for her at night. Over the
weekends Angela likes to run around and she really wants A PERSON to love. I
have reason to doubt that she will find that person in Soweto and this is why:
Last night we rushed Angela to the vet as someone attempted to kill her. She
was poisoned. The Melville vet has her on a drip and she is sleeping and
surviving. Angie is in desperate need of a home. I can’t keep her because I am
not permitted to have a dog on the property as the owner – who also lives on
the property – has two dogs. I have two cats. In two days Angie will be out of
hospital. If there is anyone reading this who has a heart of gold- you alone
are the one for this dearest, most faithful and loving dog I have ever had the
good fortune to know.

Coco and Bela Bella and Coco need a loving home, they both about 11
months old, Coco has already been spayed. Both lived with 4 other dogs and
small children, Coco liked play soccer with the kids! They should fit in well
with other animals and children. However, your property must be well fenced
and Coco tried to jump a wall recently. It would be great if they could be
homed together but not absolutely essential. Please contact Kay 0721197350 or

This poor female dog was being offered for sale at the Yellowwood
Park Shopping Centre on Saturday by 2 black males. She was rescued (many
thanks to Thora and Danny)but as there was no where to take her on Saturday
afternoon she has ended up at the Kloof SPCA (031-7641212). She has recently
had puppies (she still has milk), When asked where her puppies were the man
said ‘he had sold them’. They are probably still too young to be separated
from their mother and I hate to think of where they have ended up. This poor
female has the saddest eyes and face and wouldn’t even look at Thora and
Danny. She had a mark around her neck so has obviously been chained up and was
also full of ticks and fleas. She is medium size.Is there any kind person out
there who would give her a happy home after her bad start in life? I will
gladly help with SPCA charges to get her adopted. If you can help please
contact Val 082-8707764 or Jean 078-4108714. Jean phoned the SPCA to-day to
see how this lovely girl was doing. Apparently she has been very ill with
bilary but is now doing much better and seems a lot happier. She is still
waiting for her forever home. Please, won’t some kind person adopt her and
give her a happy ending. I am still more than happy to help with the cost of
adopting her.

Poor Tommy is up for adoption AGAIN! Tommy has no luck and he is
still looking for a heart that can love him and give him a forever home Please
help me help Tommy. This little guy has not had it good….. I know without a
shadow of a doubt that there is the perfect home for him. YOU can make a
difference …. share this mail far and wide….talk to pals….. soften
hearts and open doors to 4eva homes. It just takes you and me and then the
next one and the next one and together we can change the world What will you
do now? My heart is heavy! Tommy is a 2 year old Spaniel x JRT and is a very
friendly chap. He gets along well with other dogs and is not too bad with cats
(if they don’t run). Please contact Janet 082 468 3525 or
jan.beeton@wbs.co.za  Home
check applies.

Please find attached pic of Shadow (not sure what else to call him
but he follows you everywhere and loves to lie by your feet)We are guessing he
is about 4 – 5 months old. Still got all his puppy teeth too. He was dumped in
Ballito last week and we got the call to go and rescue him. The plan was for
us to foster him but, due to his age and him being a male, our own male didn’t
take well to him being on the property. All my girls were fine with him and he
was fine with them. My male is snappy though and unless they are baby baby
puppies or kittens, its risky with him. So after 2 days with us a friend of
ours offered to foster him for a bit to help us out. (see 2 pics attached of
him now with her and her son, fully at home and loving life and playing with
her other rescue pup, Khaleesi) (Yes, she is the lady who has given Khaleesi a
loving forever home!)She can’t keep him and obviously this is just a temporary
situation and we need to find him a home as soon as possible. (I know pups go
quicker than adults and adapt easier too so time is of the essence here) It’s
also costly in terms of feeding him etc. If you can offer this dear little
chap a loving home please contact Lorinda 082-5627202. He is in Ballito.
